Swysh Forward Foundation uses the power of basketball to support the mental and emotional well-being of young people. Through access to the game, mental performance education, community programs, mentorship, and connections to professional resources, our goal is to help young athletes build confidence, resilience, and the support systems they need both on and off the court.
Why I Started Swysh Forward
Swysh Forward Foundation did not start as a business decision. It came from experiences throughout my life that changed my perspective on mental health, sports, and the responsibility we have to support young people.
When I was 18 years old, I lost someone very close to me to suicide. They suffered in silence, and that loss has stayed with me throughout my life. Several years later, a neurological disorder left me paralyzed and in the ICU. I was fortunate to recover, but that experience gave me a perspective I have carried ever since. Life is fragile, time is precious, and we never truly know what someone else may be going through.
Sports were a huge part of my life growing up, and I have seen talented athletes struggle not because they lacked ability, but because anxiety, pressure, fear of failure, and the mental side of competition held them back. When I created Swysh Den, I began seeing something even bigger — basketball could create confidence, friendships, mentors, belonging, and a support system for young people.
That realization helped create Swysh Forward Foundation. I want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Our goal is to help young people find their confidence, their voice, and the support they need before they ever feel alone.
